This is a conversation I just had.

"Hello, Shop-n-Bag."
"Hi, do you carry chestnuts?"
"What?"
"Do you guys sell chestnuts?"
"Chestnuts?"
"Yes. Chestnuts."
"We're on Walnut Street."
"Yes, I know where you are. I want to know if you sell chestnuts, the food. Fresh or in a jar."
"The food?"
"Yes. Correct."
"Is this a joke?"
"No, this is not a joke. I want to buy some chestnuts. As in the nut. That grows on the chestnut tree. That you eat."
"Let me check." *hangs up on me*

Too early for chestnuts anywhere but specialty stores.

That said, this person doesn't even seem to be aware of their existence, which is... special.

I didn't know if they were in season or not yet. But even out of season a lot of places have them in jars.

"Special" doesn't cover it. My father did a random sampling while we were walking through downtown Richmond a few years back. He'd stop people and ask them what kind of tree an acorn came from. More than half had no idea. Like I said, "special" doesn't begin to cover it....
