Han would win the fistfight, because he'd bring a gun.
I love Mal, but ultimately he makes more mistakes than Han does. Kirk's ego would get in the way. So Han's the man for captain too. Mal gets to babysit though because although they'd all be crap at it, Mal would at least do his best.
