For the record, the tamales are freakin' delicious.

I'm so glad they worked out! It would suck for such a time consuming recipe to not turn out well...which is what deters me, lol.

What deters me is that I can pull into the Target parking lot and buy a crate of homemade tamales from the tiny little apple-doll of a Mexican lady. She sells them out of the trunk of her car at two for a buck. They're FABULOUS, way better than what I made the one time I tried.

Due to your lack of a tiny apple-doll Mexican lady at your Target parking lot, I can send you some corn husks, should the need for tamales strike you again.

I wish every Target in the country had a tiny little Mexican lady selling wonderful tamales! Sadly, I fear it will be a long time before that happens in my area (rural NH is pitifully lacking in diversity).

On the plus side, you have fabulous trees. And YOU probably don't get woken up in the middle of the night by gang shootings or by the guy down the street who likes to blast Mexican-polka music.

This is very true. I'm more at risk to be eaten by the family of bears the neighbors have been feeding, lol. But, until that happens, I can enjoy the trees, lakes, etc.

I will fantasize about trees and lakes while I chow down on carne asada tacos from my favourite Oakland taco truck today :)
