Nov. 25th, 2009 11:01 pmLast night I attempted a quick filipino-style baked fish in coconut sauce. The concept was sound, but I overseasoned and it was way too salty. It wasn't inedible, but it also wasn't good.
On the other hand, I bought some smoked ham hocks in the scrap meat aisle of the supermarket and used them to make a really incredibly tasty lentil stew, so all was not lost. The secret ingredient? Cinnamon sticks cooked into the stew. Delicious!
