Apparently I have lost 8 lbs since last Monday. Nevertheless, I cannot in good faith recommend the infected tonsil diet.

Years ago, I saw a stand up comedian that happened to have AIDs. His "Lose Weight Now, Ask Me How!" joke was one of my favorite gallows humor jokes of all time.

I remember my friend George and I were on our way to a judo tournament, and George had cut some absurd amount of weight to make his weight class and he was cranky as hell. We were running late and the cab driver kept getting lost. When we finally got there George swore at him and threw the money at him before he ran off. I told the cabby "Yeah, sorry about his attitude. He's lost seven pounds in the last 24 hours."

The cabby just stared at me blankly for a few moments, then nodded. "Yeah, that happened to me when I started smoking crack too."

"Yeah, that happened to me when I started smoking crack too."
