Could be worse. I've seen it used in a toilet paper ad, so now my association with the song isn't the movie....

What? "Atreyu!!! Bring back some TP!!" ?

[identity profile] eefster.livejournal.com 2011-02-28 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Something like that! It was about how long this brand's rolls are, so it's just shots of peoples' feet and legs and the base of the bowl.

Man, I can't even explain it: just watch and cry.

Merely READING that you have the song stuck in your head has it stuck in my head.

At our local (awesome! at least for East Tennessee...) big Asian market, they have 6 foot lengths of sugar cane. What culinary whatzit would someone need a 6 foot length of sugar cane for?

You can eat it raw, of course. It's delicious, albeit terrible for your teeth. More commonly, you can peel it, split it (usually into quarters, but it depends on the thickness of the cane) and use it as skewers for grilling meat or seafood. That is freaking delicious. For example: http://rasamalaysia.com/vietnamese-sugar-cane-shrimp-chao-tom/ or http://www.wchstv.com/gmarecipes/emerilssugarcanebakedham.shtml. The skewers are edible, albeit pulpy.

Also, you can use it to make sugar syrup which has a delightfully different taste than your regular Karo corn syrup or what you might make from refined white sugar.
