Just saw this for the first time last night on Gok Wan on one of the episodes of "How to Look Good Naked." Completely agree - all I could think of was Fred Flintstone!

Cufflinks and collar studs, and a freshly ironed shirt. Or I wear them as belts - especially if they're from Eton.

I've seen that before. Sometime in the late 80s, early 90s. I am once again realizing how my parents felt when I wanted to wear tie-dyes and hippie skirts in junior high.
