Planning dinner

It may sound a bit sad, but meal planning has become one of the favorite parts of my day. It's like worldbuilding, only it's delicious and you get to eat it instead of half-finishing a novel and then throwing it into the trash when you realize that it's complete crap, and also a total ripoff composite of a half-dozen already-derivative writers' worlds.

Tonight I'm going to sear and steam some radicchio (aka italian chicory) and serve it very simply with a bacon-mustard vinaigrette and some fresh ground black pepper. The only concern I have is that the dressing won't be enough to cut the bitterness of the chicory, but that's a risk I'll just have to take.

I'm thinking I'll try Trader Joe's brand gluten-free pasta as a main course, and if I'm feeling ambitious I'll do a pureed cauliflower soup on the side. I've still got a bunch of my rosemary-lemon chicken stock in the freezer, but I might go and buy some regular unflavored store-bought stuff. If I do the soup it will be with with chestnuts and curry, and I don't want to make the dish too busy.

I can not criticize that, as I did much the same, though in my case it was rum.
