Insurance guy: "Well, just looking around, I can definitely tell you that this place isn't a write-off and we should be able to get you back inside..."

Me: "Woohoo!"

Insurance guy: "... pretty quickly. The dog and pony show shouldn't take too long, maybe as little as six weeks..."

Me: "Wooh- wait, wha?"

Insurance guy: "...though you should probably plan for two months, with a contingency for two or three weeks past that just in case."

Me: "Boohoo!"

Huh. At least you can go back, but at that rate it seems like maybe it would have been better just to move on. Oh well, maybe there will be a miracle and it will be much faster.

This was my thought, as well.

Either way, I hope things get resolved soon!

And I assume they will pick up the tab on temporary shelter until then, right?

so, we don't really have a place for you to crash (unless you don't mind sleeping on a futon on a barely-heated sun porch), but if you need a place to stash a couple of your kitties until your house is all ready again, and don't want to keep them at the vet that whole time, we can probably take in 2-3 of them (on a strictly temporary basis of course, to be returned as soon as you move back- and we have 3 cats and a dog already, so if you have some kitties that get along with dogs and strange cats, that would be preferable). I live on 46th between spruce and locust, so you could come by and visit them whenever too. Email me at akuperbe @ sas.upenn.edu if you want to take me up on this.

And we have the opposite offer: You can totally crash here 9Your own room, comfy bed, Star Wars pillowases, bathroom), but sadly I can`t accommodate the critters. I know Delaware ain`t convenient, but it`s here if ya need it. Totally.

Most of CK's core staff has offered to take in your kitties. I promised I'd pass it on.

Eugh. Two months? That's way past the 'think of it as a fun holiday' stage, which would have been my advice otherwise.

Just going to have to cross my fingers for you that things move quicker.

Oh dear lord... I'm later to the party than anyone (don't read LJ much these days), but I just caught up and I'm so incredibly sorry to hear what's been going on with you. I have no idea what I could do from New York that would be useful, but if you can think of anything, let me know. I'd be happy to replenish your Tor frontlist whenever you're settled.

Hey, if you still need a place to stay, you are welcome to stay with Jared and I in our house in West Philly. We have a guest room with a bed that has a pullout mattress underneath, so we can accommodate two people who don't mind sharing a room.

Unfortunately, we are allergic to cats, so we can't house them, but we are happy to house you or your roommate or both of you if you still need a place to go. You can send me an e-mail at jrblackwell at gmail dot com if you interested. I hope you find a place to stay and that they fix up your apartment quickly. Best of luck.

Holy shit. I stay off LiveJournal for a week and come back to find that your gaddamn house almost burned down. Holy shit. I've been reading the last week's worth of your entries for the past ten minutes and just going, "No... No... No...!"

I tried to find your e-mail and phone number, but I couldn't, so I'll send this to you here instead:

What you probably need most of all right now is a) a fairy godmother, b) a rich relative, or c) a friend with a guestroom and a car to take you shopping. I am unfortunately neither of those three, but I will try to do everything I can to help you. If you need someone to spot you for cash, or if you'd like some free lunches and dinners, or if you need an underwear shopping partner, let me know. Right now the hot water heater is busted at our apartment, so we have no hot water or central heating, but it should be fixed by next Monday, so you and your roommate are free to crash over at our place any time after then. My boyfriend Ori is a pretty good cook, and he likes having people over.

Here is my cell phone number and e-mail:

Also just catching up with LJ and reading your posts. Not much we can offer from across the country, but our sympathy and concern is certainly with you, your roomie and your kitties! So sorry this happened and hoping for a speedier-than-expected resolution.
