Surreal. One of my best friends from high school was a production assistant and writing assistant on that show after college. She completely drank the Kool-Aid. That whole mugging-to-the-audience thing is still her schtick.
She just totally got emotionally invested in working for Saved By The Bell and thought the show and everything about it was awesome. She writes for Sid The Science Kid (http://pbskids.org/sid) on PBS now.
It's one more hit than I've got, so who am I to judge?
