I don't believe in fate, or karma, or any of that predestination bushwah, and I know that we humans are wired to find patterns in the random Brownian motion of everyday life.

If I did believe in that stuff, though, there are three places which have, with increasingly unlikely regularity, been imposing themselves upon my awareness just as I've been contemplating a change of scenery: Austin, North Carolina and Portland OR. It's really getting to the point where I'm getting exasperated with the imp of perversity that I know does not exist.

Even just to visit!

Austin? North Carolina? Wouldn't you have to hide from the sun about 10 months out of the year?

North Carolina is awesome! And actually, the weather here is nicer than Philly in the summer- I've had both philly weather and Greensboro NC weather up on my google home page since March (I moved from Philly to Greensboro a few weeks ago), and Greensboro is typically 2-5 degrees cooler in the summer, and at at most is around 2 degrees hotter on days when the hot weather gets here first- since Philly is very urban/made out of concrete and built over a freakin swamp, it gets insanely hot there in the summer and they have very few trees- and the ones that are big enough to give shade are just as likely to fall over and take out your car.

And then there's barely a winter in NC at all (it gets below freezing at night and maybe snows a couple times a year, but never enough to need to shovel anything) and they have nice very long springs and falls. :)

I'm a fan of portland and austin.

For all the obvious reasons. :) I think the south holds a Rabbit. I would migrate south for a Rabbit.

If both of you migrated here, to the land in which I dwell, I would be the happiest of Rabbits!

but you'd always have to sleep in the middle. Or Yagathai and I would fight over you.

Portland has been doing that to me, too. It seems to be the "hip new place" everyone wants to be, so I keep hearing about it from every corner.

Austin is in Texas.

North Carolina is in, well, North Carolina.

I would not visit either of them unless it's paid-for by work.

YMMV.

Did you not see the clause in the NE BWB contract that says you can never leave?
